ECO-HOME

I'd like to think that I've always been an eco-conscious person but my real quest to make "eco" changes in my life started a few years ago.  I enjoy trying new eco products and sharing them on social media with my "Waste Free Wednesday" posts.  Some changes are easier than others and sometimes eco changes are just not feasible for our current "season in life".
Perhaps some of the things I try will inspire you to
make some eco changes in your life too.

If you want more eco-home tips, follow me on Facebook for my "Waste-Free Wednesday" posts!
*I RECEIVE NO COMPENSATION FOR THESE RECOMMENDATIONS, I JUST WANT TO SHARE MY FAVS :)*

DISH & HAND SOAP
I absolutely love these soaps from Grove Co.!  I had a really hard time finding a good solution for refillable hand & dish soap containers - most refillables came in plastic containers which defeated the whole purpose for me.  So I love that these containers are aluminum (aka they are infinitely recyclable), their ingredients are non-toxic, and they smell delicious!

"REUSABLE" PAPER TOWELS
This might be a bit controversial but we try to use "Reusable" Paper Towels whenever possible.  I like not having to buy & store big packs of paper towels (or running out unexpectedly) & it's easy to just throw these in the wash.  Guests get confused by them & we do still need paper towels on hand for big messes but it saves us from buying TONS of rolls.  These towels from Zero Waste Store are great!

STAINLESS STEEL STRAWS
I get it...people don't like paper straws because they start to get soggy while you are drinking.  I like paper straws for parties but for everyday use, we bust out our metal straws.  This set from Amazon has different sizes & angles and keeps a ton of plastic straws out of our landfills & waterways.

FOLDABLE REUSABLE SHOPPING BAGS
If you struggle to remember to bring a reusable bag into a store with you, these are a great option.  They fold up into a small pouches and can fit in your purse or even pocket.  This set at Amazon has fun designs you can choose from.

REUSABLE K-CUP
Please tell me you don't still use the single-use K-cups 🙁  Every Keurig comes with these reusable pods that you just pour your ground coffee into and pop it into the machine.  Your coffee will taste better because it's actually fresh & you can get it from the cute coffee shop in town and you will be saving an immense amount of pods from entering the trash.  You can get replacement cups at Amazon too!

HAND SOAP TABLETS
In addition to the refillable liquid hand soap, I use these dissolvable tablets from Blueland for my foaming dispensers.  They have nice scents, a great lather & their packaging is compostable.

SCRUB SPONGE
Sometimes you just really need to scrub hard and this is my go-to sponge for the tough jobs.  I love this Scrub Sponge from Blueland - 100% plastic free, compostable & durable.

DISH BRUSH
Most dishwashing tools we use are made mostly of plastic & don't decompose when we are done with them.  These dish brushes have a reusable handle and you just change out the head when it's worn down.  The heads are made with plant-based bristles so it can all decompose.  Bonus...my hands aren't as dry after constantly washing dishes because the long handle does the hard work 🙂  These are from Package Free but you can find more options on Amazon too.

SWEDISH DISHCLOTHS
I cannot believe that I didn't discover Swedish Dishcloths sooner! I use them primarily for wiping down our countertops & tables and I love that they don't leave surfaces soaking wet...and they don't smell funky.  Not to mention they are 100% biodegradable.  Three Bluebirds has adorable prints but there are also a ton on Amazon.

DRYER BALLS
We haven't used dryer sheets in years - our noses got sensitive to the fragrance & we wondered what chemicals we were putting on our clothes.  Now we use these Dryer Balls from Dropps - they are 100% wool & reduce drying time by separating the clothes during the drying cycle.
